The light source itself is a unique design feature—a bare incandescent bulb with a mirrored dome, which had just been invented at the time. The light is directed downward, making the light source appear dim. The light is absorbed and refracted by etched frosted glass, making it seem like a shiny layer floating above a thin nickel-plated metal tube.This lamp was showcased as an example of functional design in Issue 7 of the Bauhaus book, published in 1925. The only original model was exhibited in the experimental house called “Am Horn,” but unfortunately, it has since been lost.
